Our effort to keep you informed regarding Lamafest during the Coronavirus Pandemic and the look ahed to 2021.
As the number of Covid-19 cases have significantly increased in Michigan, Governor Whitmer has continued restrictions for gatherings and events. Current restrictions permit just 50 or fewer people inside, with masks and social distancing. The Governor will make her next determination on August 11. Although my crystal ball broke several years ago, we believe she will not change these restrictions.
Michigan Llama Association's Board of Directors has therefore voted to cancel Lamafest 2020. We do not believe we can host a quality event within the guidelines set by the State and MSU. Because of these restrictions we would not be able to have a vendor row, be open for spectators, or have open access to the building. We would be required to limit the number of entries and limit the people that come with those entries. We would not have food concession and would have to hire someone to clean the bathrooms every hour (that would count towards the 50 people). There are many other factors that we had to consider in making this decision.
MLA certainly understands everyone's anxiousness to get into the show ring, and we regret that we can not do that for you.
All the great things we had planned for this year will have to wait a year. Be sure to put us on your 2021 calendar under "Great Things to Do" on Labor Day weekend.
Thank you for your understanding and support,
MLA Board of Directors
